Co-founder

BISHOP EUGENE S. JOHNSON

Bishop Eugene S. Johnson prefers to be appreciated as a holiness preacher and pastor who was reared in the firmness and fevor of “the old time way.” He is a progressive minister, who maintains a godly compassion for souls and holds fast to the precepts of the apostolic faith and cherishes the dynamic power of the gospel.

Bishop Johnson was saved at the age of 14 and served faithfully under the leadership of three great Pentecostal men: Bishop Gary Hunt of Greater Apostolic Faith Temple of Memphis, TN (1961-1969 and 1976-1983), the late Bishop Leroy Chappelle (Church of Jesus Christ in Los Angeles, CA (1969-1974), and the Late District Elder Clem Humphrey (Grace Apostolic Church in Washington, D.C., (1974-1976)

Bishop Johnson has been very active within the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW), He labored at the local, state, regional and national levels for the International Pentecostal Young People’s Union, the International Christian Education Association, and the International Missions Board.

Bishop Johnson was called into the ministry in 1976. Seven years later (1983) he was ordained an Elder at the annual summer convention of the PAW in Milwaukee WI. Bishop Willard Saunders, then the Diocesan of the Minnesota, Wisconsin, Dakotas District Council (MWDDC), invited Elder Johnson to come from Memphis to Madison,Wisconsin, where he and Sister Johnson co-founded and established their first church, Madison Pentecostal Assembly. These two pioneers went on to co-found, along with others, Memphis Pentecostal Assembly (2005), Tomah Pentecostal Assembly (2014), Beloit Pentecostal Assembly (2015) and Appleton Pentecostal Assembly (2016). Bishop and Sister Johnson currently serve as Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor, respectively, to the churches in Madison, Beloit and Appleton, Wisconsin.Since their marriage in 1971, Bishop and Sister Carolyn Johnson have worked as a team. Together they have one daughter and three sons, who have been a tremendous blessing to them naturally and spiritually.

Bishop Johnson worked secularly in social science research for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (Washington, D.C), LeMoyne-Owen College (Memphis, Tennessee). He retired from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a career executive. He concurrently served as pastor and civil servant for 27 years. Bishop Johnson credits his success in these joint leadership roles to Jesus Christ, Executive Pastor Carolyn Johnson, his daughter and sons, his strong, gifted and dedicated staff (both ministry and government) and praying saints.

Bishop Johnson graduated from LeMoyen-Owen College with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics and from the University of California at Los Angeles Graduate School of Management with a Masters of Science Degree in Management, concentrating in Urban Land Economics.

We Believe

This is what we believe at Beloit  Pentecostal Assembly:

  • WE BELIEVE that the Bible is the inspired, infallible word of God, written by holy men of old, as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
  • WE BELIEVE in one God who is eternal, infinite in power, holy in nature, attributes and purposes, as well as omniscient and omnipresent.
  • WE BELIEVE that he was revealed to us as Father in creation, as Son in redemption, and as Holy Spirit in his comforting grace that never leaves those who trust him.
  • WE BELIEVE that in Jesus dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, for it pleased the Father that in him should all the fullness dwell.
  • WE BELIEVE in the virgin birth. Jesus was both human and divine; he was God manifested in the flesh.
  • WE BELIEVE in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
  • WE BELIEVE that he ascended on high and has sent his own spirit, the Holy Ghost, who was poured out at Jerusalem nearly 2000 years ago, and He is the same spirit that is filling the hearts of those who diligently seek him today.
  • WE BELIEVE the new birth experience involves water baptism by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which is initially evidenced by speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.
  • WE BELIEVE in living a holy, sanctified life.
  • WE BELIEVE in divine healing, communion and foot washing.
  • WE BELIEVE in the glorious catching away of the saints when Jesus returns in the clouds in glory to take his people, the righteous, to heaven to live with him eternally.
  • NOW, THEREFORE, OUR CHIEF AIM is to glorify our Savior, who is Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
